8th Academic IT Festival

7. Acdemic IT Festival

Like all previous editions, the seventh belongs to the past. So let’s remind ourselves what happened on 10-12 March 2011.

More than three thousand people attended 17 lectures given by 19 speakers. At the same time about one hundred people participated in the workshops.

These people shared with us their wisdom:

  • Wiesław Paluszyński
  • Wojciech Świeboda
  • Andrzej Błaszczyk
  • Sławomir Kopeć
  • Marcin Bielówka
  • Szymon Słupik
  • Stephen Wolfram
  • Michał Śliwoń
  • Rafał Legiędź
  • Paweł Dolega
  • Konrad Malawski
  • Tomasz Smolarek
  • Piotr Konieczny
  • Chris Mills
  • Mariusz Stawowski
  • Albert Hupa
  • Katarzyna Wadas
  • Rafał Szemraj
  • Mariusz Gil

Topics of the lectures concerned electronic signatures, creating processes in Windows Workflow Foundation, Facebook for developers, starting up a company with help of Cracow Technology Park, the future of mobile communication, web development, programming language Scala, a distributed version control system GIT, hacker tools, HTML5, designing and scalability of databases or creating virtual characters for games.

It’s worth mentioning that for the first time in ATIF history we held a videoconference. Stephen Wolfram told us about his vision of future programming.

Also for the first time, participants of the festival had a possibility to become speakers. It was enough to send an application through Call for Papers - just presenting us a subject that others might be interested in. From the applications we selected two people who had their chance to present their speeches.

Workshops were led by:

  • Andrzej Błaszczyk
  • Monika Konieczny
  • Kamil Piekarz
  • Konrad Malawski
  • Paweł Chrapka
  • Piotr Gurgul
  • Mariusz Gil

Participants of these workshops had a chance to learn how to create applications for Facebook, how programmers and testers can communicate and which tools they can use to create Android applications.

7th AITF received honorary patronages of Cracow’s City President Jacek Majchrowski and of Little Poland’s Governor Stanisław Kracik.

Our media patronages were:

  • niebezpiecznik.pl
  • www.krakow.pl
  • Miesięcznik Studencki Manko
  • Telewizja Studencka URSS.TV

Our golden sponsors were:

  • Clico
  • Krakowski Park Technologiczny
  • SoftwareMind

And our silver sponsors were:

  • ABB
  • Capgemini
  • eset

Donald Knuth na 4. SFI

Donald Knuth, znany wielu z nas twórca systemu TeX oraz autor wielu interesujących algorytmów i książek z serii "The Art of Computer Programming".
